Welcome back! The new school year has started again, and there are lots of things happening in the library and MHS as a whole!
This year, the MHS Charger Library will be opening the Hot Off The Press coffee shop every Friday morning (and if its really popular, maybe more often)! Students and staff can come in from 7:30-8:00 am and get a cup of coffee, latte, tea, or hot chocolate and spend some time browsing what the library has to offer. Pastries will also be available! What are you looking forward to this school year?

In order to help raise funds for the MHS MakerSpace, the library is organizing the MHS Spring Craft Show on April 29! It will be from 9 am to 3 pm, and we hope that you'll all come out.
In the meantime, we are still taking vendor applications - just go to the MHS Spring Craft Fair page and click on the photo there to download the vendor application. We've also got a Facebook event page - https://www.facebook.com/events/230690304003485/ feel free to share with family and friends!!! Don't know what a MakerSpace is? Well, according to the MakerMedia's MakerSpace Playbook, they "are physical spaces for people, including kids, to work together and review their projects." Basically, its a place to learn by creating, basing your project around things that interest you, or things you want to know more about. Still doesn't make sense? That's all right - I've got a short little video that might help you at the end of this post! Our MakerSpace is an ever changing and growing area in the library, and students will be able to come to an Introductory day after Christmas break, and then sign up for different Maker Moment Challenges before and during school from February to May. Stay turned for more info! We've gotten some new books - including a whole series donated by the author (Maureen Johnson)! Also, be sure to check the library frequently - there are lots of fun things coming up!
From November 7 - 18 we are taking donations of canned and non-perishable food items in the library. Each can you bring in will forgive $0.25 of your fine - if you owe 50 cents, that's two cans of food! We'll also accept donations of food for the food drive as well.
On the 18th, the library will hand over the cans to the Key Club, who will distribute them to organizations in the community who need them. There are lots of things going on this week - classes coming in for a "Book Tasting" event, and some contests as well! One of these contests involves guessing the book shredded inside the jar on the circulation desk. You can guess once a day, and on Friday, October 14, 2016, we'll draw the winner, who will receive a copy of the mystery book! There is another contest going on this week which should be tons of fun - The Most Unusual Place to Read a Book contest!
Its that time again - more new books to highlight for this week! On top of that, its also Teen Read Week! There will be lots of things going on this week in the library, all leading to a chance for a couple of prizes! Later today I'll be posting a schedule and more information, so stay tuned!
